Supervision:

Children are supervised from 8.50am in the school yard –if it is raining, pupils may go directly inside to Classroom 4 where supervision will be provided. Assembly is at 9am. Each teacher has a designated time for supervision of the morning and lunch breaks -the SNA is also in the school yard during these periods.

Collection of Children:

For your child's safety, it is essential that you inform the school if you intend to collect him/her before the official closing time or if you have made alternative arrangements for the collection of your child/children. Please ensure that you complete the form detailing the people who have permission to collect your child.

Homework:

The class teacher organises the daily homework, which the pupils record in the homework journals/notebooks. Friday is generally a homework free day.

Absenteeism

Under the Education Welfare Act, all schools are obliged to notify the Education Welfare Board if a pupil has been absent for a total of twenty days or more in any school year. It is important therefore that the school is made aware of the reason (i.e. sickness) for any absences either by phone or in writing.

Lunches

The school has a Healthy Eating Policy—this encourages the children to eat healthy food and has proven to be very successful, both for parents and children. Pupils are requested to bring a healthy lunch and school milk is available on request for a minimal charge each term. We have a number of pupils within the school with nut allergies, some of them of a very serious nature. Please refrain from giving your child nuts, peanut butter, Nutella or any product containing nuts as part of their lunch.

General Information

Credit Union Quiz: Two teams are selected annually to represent the school in this quiz and have consistently performed very well.

St. Patrick’s Day Mass: The pupils sing and play various musical instruments at the St. Patrick’s Day Mass, which is celebrated in the Parish Church, Rosscarbery.
